So, I figured, since I tried the 2003 Cabernet and enjoyed it, and since I read even more impressive words about the 2003 merlot, I thought I should give it a whirl. Well I did just that, and let me tell you what I read was no farce. Red Diamond Winery has done magical things with their merlot. Some of you may not agree after trying it, but I think it is absolutely delicious. Apparently some other people agreed with me at one point in time, as it was on Wine & Spirits "most popular merlots" list in 2004.

Believe it or not, I love to try "mystery" wines just as much as I love to try the higher-end quality wines I'm always hearing about. By mystery, I mean a less popular wine that I haven't heard of and is usually lower in price. The "mystery" wine I'm speaking of in this particular instance comes from a little corner of our world in Washington (State), from a winery that sits along the Gorge River on the eastern part of the state.
For those of you who are not aware, Washington is not all about gray clouds, rain, Seattle, Starbucks, etc. The eastern side of the state is beautiful countryside, somewhat desert-like, that houses dry and arid conditions, which are perfect grape-growing conditions.
